First Annual Holiday Cookie Exchange

Slow Food Sonoma Valley’s inaugural Holiday Cookie Exchange held in conjunction with The Grange was a delightful, heartwarming success. Principal organizer and hostess, Margarita Ramirez, not only got the word out, she transformed The Grange Hall into a warm and inviting holiday venue complete with twinkling lights and poinsettia table decorations.

The event was free and open to everyone willing to

“share in giving and gifting back to our community” by baking three dozen of their favorite cookies or baked holiday treats. One dozen of each batch was donated to Meals on Wheels or Brown Baggers while the other two were exchanged for a nice variety of tasty goodies.

In addition to the huge selection of sweet treats, members of Slow Food Sonoma Valley brought delicious, hearty soups, cheeses and wines to share. Adding to the spirit of the evening members of the local group PlanBe, played great background music throughout the evening.

A wonderful time was had by all, and the most overwhelming sentiment expressed was “We’ll have to do this again.”

Many thanks to all who participated! We welcome any comments or thoughts you might have. Contact us at leaders@slowfoodsonomavalley.com.
